Many people have been using the tradition of anointing oil. In the past anointing oil was used to prepare bodies for burial. The oil was used as a perfume and for treating the sick.

Let us look at the symbolic meanings of anointing oil.

Anointing oil is a symbol of your faith in God and seeking the Lord’s presence, to cleanse and heal you. However, without faith, nothing happens.


Many people anoint their homes by praying and applying the oil on the doors, windows, and mirrors within the home. By anointing your home, you are asking for God's presence and His protection. Anyone who enters and leaves your home walks in peace.

What are the 5 ingredients of anointing oil?

Five ingredients that make the anointing oil and what each symbolizes.

 

1. Myrrh symbolizes meekness and submission to the Will of God. Submitting to the obedience of God.

2. Calamus symbolizes having a life with humility. Jesus was the perfect example of this, serving all people. If we want to walk in the anointing, we need to walk in humility.

3. Cinnamon symbolizes standing upright for what is right. Standing on the truth.

4. Cassia is used for inner cleansing. If we want to be cleaned, we need to take all to the cross and lay it there. Seek to be cleansed inside out.

5. The olive oil symbolizes the Holy Spirit. Back in the day, olive oil was used to cook with and apply olive oil to wounds and rub men’s feet after a hard day’s work. It was used to anoint Kings, priests, and prophets.
