Why is Hannah so significant?

The Hannah story is so significant because this woman shows courage, persistent prayer, and commitment to God. In her time of disappointment, she did not stop praying and she never doubted God and she kept her promise to God. Let us together work through the principles that Hannah adopted and refer to the scriptures from the Bible.

Surrender all to God and remain strong in prayer

In the book of 1 Samuel Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 we can read the story about Hannah.

Hannah was married to Elkanah. At the time she had no children. Hannah was barren, and she was dealing with the second wife of Elkanah whose name was Peninnah who was taunting her because Hannah could not have children of her own.

The day Hannah went to the Temple of Shiloh she cried bitterly and was deeply distressed. She was praying silently and was praying with intensity and focus. The priest Eli was watching her and at some point, he thought she was drunk. She told the priest that she was not drinking and that she was pouring her heart out to the Lord. Refer to 1 Samuel 1 v 15.

In 1 Samuel 1 v 19 It says that Hannah made a solemn promise to God. What does that mean? It means that she made a deep promise to God.

By praying fervently, it deepens our relationship with God and is an act of worship and surrender. God is our Father, and we are His children.

Trust God

The priest said to her go in peace. She got up, ate something and was no longer sad. She left her troubles with the Lord. This behaviour shows us that she trusted God and she had no doubt.

In her prayer she praises the Lord. She says there is no one like the Lord. God is her helper and protector.

The Lord answered her prayers and blessed her and even gave her more than what she expected. In time she gave birth to a son and name him Samuel. To think that Samuel was the Prophet who anointed King David. Hannah gave birth to four more children. With God nothing is impossible.

When we look at this situation this can be applied to any hardship or disappointment that we face today. Every situation can be taken to God. God is the only one who can solve our problems.

When you cast your problems to God have the faith that God will resolve the situation. He will resolve the issue in His time and according to His will. Hannah also kept her promise and when her Son was old enough, she took him to the Temple of Shiloh.

Seek God’s word for renewed hope and walk in the victory that is in Christ Jesus. We must speak life and victory over our circumstances. This does not mean we will not face storms, but it does mean we will not allow being consumed by it and that God is with us during the storm.

Walk in victory every day!

Be Thankful and honour God

When God answers your prayer take the time to recognize this and thank Him. Again, let us be grateful that we can bring all worries and concerns to Him, and He has the power to bring to pass what is best for us. He knows the plans he has for all of us. Hannah recognized that God’s is the Lord most high and there is no one like Him. In 1 Samuel 2 v 2 it says there is no one holy like the Lord, there is none like Him, no protector like our God.

Stay close to God

Prayer is a powerful tool and God wants us to stay connected with Him. God is our protector always. We will always be victorious through Jesus Christ. God will pour out His spirit of mercy and grace in our times of deepest need. Blessings do come in diverse ways than what we expect but out of those challenges great depth of faith, perseverance and character develops.

You will see God’s hand in all areas of your life when you leave everything in God’s hands.
